Report: PFM in Canada

May 15th, 2012 by KiralyTeam received No Comments »

Pointfighting Masters World Tour took his opportunity and gave a big seminar during our 2-week-long tour around Canada. On 6 May PFM World Tour visited the friendly city of Gatineau, Quebec to hold a 4 hour long seminar. Well, this time the 4 hours session was not enough for those hunger fighters…they wanted more. After our hard training we can talk about them and their concentrated training attitude only in superlative. Watch out, guys! Canada is coming! :)

Istvan Kiraly, Laszlo Gombos, Richard Veres, Daniel Roth and I had been invited to the biggest Canadian Kickboxing Tournament, which is one of the few 5-A rated NASKA tournaments, the Quebec Open 27-28 April by its highly respected promoter Mr. Clermont Poulin. After took the gold in the invitational mixed team event (2 men, 1 woman), what victory before Team Straight Up, Team Full Circle and Asg USA counts a really great success especially in America, we had been invited to another Canadian tournament, the KJS Open promoted by Mr. Stephane Dube. Gladly accepted his invitation and took part on it. That was a nice and very well organized tournament. Enjoyed it so much!

Between these 2 weekends we had the opportunity to train in Ottawa’s biggest dojo ran by Mr. John Douvris with Robbie Lavoie, David Bossinotte, Claire Cocozza and Nick Douvris. It does not just look like, but it is a professional karate club in its all component. Wish we could have spent more training days there! Was a great experience, too! Our good friend, Eric Despatie had also invited us to visit his dojo, where a group of little fighter starts their – more than probable – successful sports careers. Thanks Eric and Katherine! Enjoyed watching your training!

About the participants of PFM Canada I can tell only positive thoughts. Believe me, these are not just words, it is based on my feelings, what I was having during the session! I tried to show for all of the Canadian pointfighters that how we train at home in fact and what is the secret to be successful on tournaments. You know, 4 hours is almost nothing to present your lifetime knowledge, but I had to try it! They got my best. Maybe, this session was not the hardest one I have given, but it was likely the most complex one ever. Pure pointfighting in 4 hours: pointfighting positions, practical base techniques, proper moving on tatami, kicking skills and conditional exercises, what my session included. I would have liked to show the essence of our sport and surprisingly I realized that these fighters originally know it. This was the first time I’ve met that. This short session was one of the most memorable one in PFM World Tour’s life. Glad to teach them even for a short time. I think I am coming back sooner than you think to repeat it! – said Istvan Kiraly after his PFM seminar in Canada.

Finally, let me thank our friend, Bob Kelland and his family for their wonderful hospitality and help! we could not make this tour such successful without him. Thank you Bob and Karen! We hope that we can give back your kindness soon!

See you everybody very soon,

Zsolt

Report: PFM Analysys Volume 2.0 with 75(!) Pointfi...

April 19th, 2012 by KiralyTeam received No Comments »

It seems that, when Pointfighting Masters World Tour visits Germany, records are broken. It was not different this time neither, when PFM crew, Istvan Kiraly, Krisztian Jaroszkievicz and I visited a German town, Homberg at the last weekend (14-15 April) for the second time after 2011. Our Host, Jürgen Schorn and his right hand, Andreas Riem both did their job perfectly for this PFM station. 75(!) fighters and coaches came to learn how to do pointfighting at the highest level and with Jürgen’s and Andreas’s great hospitality we must have focused only on our job, teaching pointfighting. Istvan prepared with a bunch of very new excercises for analysys volume 2.0…

On this second seminar weekend almost all of the fighters and coaches took part, who also had took part at the first one. That is why it was easy to start to teach the group for analysys volume 2.0. That was necessary for them to know the basic pointfighting techniqus and our training method to move forward, because the new knowledge is logically based on the previous one.

For the whole seminar weekend Master Kiraly’s plan was to put the group to the next level in analysys based pointfighting, what generally means that you have to know your opponents’ capabilities and techniques at least as much as you know yours. Guys, make rule this order, because I honestly say that without it, you will be unable to develop yourself or your students and move forward in pointfighting.

On the first day there was continuous offensive and defensive pointfighting move, distance keeping and reactionary excercises with no end of variations with pure common analysys at the end of the day. Every person of the group were concentrating properly during excercises and focusing on Istvan’s words with bated breath. That was principally all the fighters’ and coaches’ attribute on the whole weekend. That is the only way to pick new knowledge up fastest and the most efficient way! Well done for it again!

On the second day Istvan paid particular regard to the practical use of analysing with excercises in small groups, where fighters could use their new knowledge against similar level opponents, what is a really important point, when a fighter wants to freshly pick new techniques up. On the last session we showed a very complex and extremely important method to practice and perfect pointfighting techniques, which method perfectly useful for preparing fights on tournaments. If you would like to know more about our method, please feel free to ask about it!

Summarizing the weekend, it was a huge success, but not for only over 70 pointfighters came to learn, but rather they went away satisfied with the knowledge, what they’ve got. That is why I recommend every person, even if he/she is fighter or coach experience the knowledge and analysys based pointfighting, what is the present and the future of our sport! Hereby we would like to thank you for your very hard and determinate work again, and thank Jürgen and Andreas for hospitality, who did make this wonderful seminar weekend to come into being!

See you guys soon in Austria,

Zsolt

Report: “Hunger to learn” in Belgium

April 5th, 2012 by KiralyTeam received No Comments »

Pointfighting Masters World Tour visited a very friendly Belgian town for a PFM seminar on the last weekend of March. Istvan Kiraly, Krisztian Jaroszkievicz and I arrived on Friday morning to the nice Beveren, where our actual Host, Marc De Block use to hold his prestigious annual Flanders Kickboxing Cup in September. We did not laze and started the first 2 hour session on Friday evening with about 30 Belgian and French fighters.

Friday session was followed by 2 other 2 hour training sessions on Saturday afternoon, where the father of Pointfighting Masters World Tour, Istvan Kiraly planned practising basic pointfighting techniques, physical conditional excercises, practical fighting strategies and acquainted the heart of our training methodology, analysis to the fighters. The enthusiastic pointfighters were focusing perfectly to get to know how they can use analysis properly and what they have to focus on during the process of analysing. Visibly, it was a very new method for them, but they clearly realized how useful to get to know and use it. On Sunday we continued trainings with developing kicking skills and presenting fighting strategies with using strictly restricted techniques. This strategical excercise is also a unique part of our method. They had some hard moments, but they stayed the course. :)

At the end of the 5th session (after 10 hour pointfighting training) Istvan has some appreciative thoughts to the group:

During trainings it does not matter that you are a beginner or an advanced fighter, you have to do your best everytime, if you want to be better and develop in pointfighting! I saw that you have had amazing hunger to learn in every second on my trainings and that is what really matters! Keep this trait and you will see the result of your hard work very soon! I enjoyed working with you, guys!

First, we would like to thank Marc for his invitation and his very kind hospitality. We had a great time in Belgium and had also time to enjoy Belgium’s gastronomy a little bit. Finally, hereby we thank you for your committed hard work during the whole weekend, fighters!

See you soon!

Zsolt Moradi
